our identity

We are an unexpected voice of hope, connecting God’s story with your story. We do this by equipping all believers to walk as disciples in Spirit and Truth.

In essential beliefs we have unity, in non-essential beliefs we have liberty, and in all beliefs we show love and grace.

We are so excited to be a part of planting Story Church in Lubbock, Texas! I’m from Lubbock. I graduated from Texas Tech. Melissa and I married there and this year we along with our five young children (Aletheia 8, Trafton 7, Ansley 5, Adalyn 3, and Teighdon 2) will see the beginning of a dream fulfilled. In my 25 years of ministry I have served as Youth and College Pastor, Missions Pastor, and Associate Pastor on the front end of launching a multi-site church.

When we found Every Nation with their three-pronged execution of the gospel (campus ministry, world missions, and church planting) we felt we shared the same DNA. We see a church that empowers believers to be ministers of the gospel. Ministry is a calling for all who believe in Jesus and call him Savior. Our mission is to empower and equip the body of Christ to identify and tap into their God-given talents so that we might reach and make disciple-makers for Christ.

We are praying for a “wave” of people to join us. For some that will mean physically relocating and joining the core team in Lubbock. Others will come alongside us financially and we ask everyone to pray as together we can do more than we ever could apart. We are thrilled to be joining Will and Alyssa Brown who are ministering to college students in Lubbock. We all have a special role to play in His Story and we would love for your story to join ours.

My life was forever changed on the college campus. My time as a student was met with opportunity after opportunity to grow more intimate with Jesus. I’m so grateful to call Texas Tech my mission field.

My days as a full-time missionary are spent sharing the Gospel, teaching students Biblical foundations, and equipping and empowering them to live out their faith. I’m privileged to share my passion for campus ministry with my wife, Alyssa. We’re grateful to help students find their true identity in Christ and have seen legacies changed by the power of Jesus.

We’re excited to partner with Jesus in reaching Texas Tech and LCU. It’s an honor to minister to our city.

When is Story Church launching?

Story Church will be launching early 2019.

Describe Story Church

Story Church will be…

… a church whose passionate, expressive worship is contagious and life changing.

… a church that connects generations of people to God, the church, their community, and the Kingdom body.

… a church that partners with the Holy Spirit to draw people to Christ.

… a church that is known as a fun place to be; celebrating all that god has done, is doing, and is going to do.

… a church where there is depth of knowledge, relationship with God, and genuine community.

… a church that is attracting, equipping, and releasing young people to minister with authority.

… a church that plants churches in strategic cities of influence.

… a church that is creative in their approach to reach people of all cultures and backgrounds.

… a church leading the way in every area of influence by implementing God ideas over good ideas.

… a church whose leadership is unified in their commitment to the authenticity, credibility, and quality of its heart.

… a church not looking for a move of God, but is a move of God!

How can I help?

God wants to use you to make a difference. There are several opportunities to serve at

Story Church. One of the best ways to meet people, develop relationships, and grow as a follower of Christ is to serve the local church. And it’s not just on the weekends! Serving opportunities are available seven days a week.

Why another Lubbock church?

A church plant is a leading way to reach the lost in the United States. With the Lubbock Metro population of over 300,000, there are close to 100,000 people that either don’t have a church home or have not decided to follow Jesus.  The growth rate of Lubbock is projected to be 7.2% over the next five years (which is almost double the national rate). Texas Tech and Lubbock Christian University have over 36,000 students that will be the leaders of tomorrow. We are excited for these reasons, and many more, to be in Hub City and to reach the whole region with the Good News.

What are your church connections?

Story Church has some strategic connections that impact who we are and allow us to bring the gospel to our city with greater effectiveness, clarity, and vibrance than if we were simply a lone-ranger church. We love and celebrate these ties.

Every Nation is an international network of churches and ministries which exists to plant Christ-centered, Spirit-empowered, socially-responsible churches and ministries in every nation. For more information on Every Nation, feel free to visit the website.

What about my children?

We want your kids to Love Jesus and His Church!

That’s why we are committed to creating safe and fun environments where the next generation are taught about the Bible and the love of Jesus through relevant, age-appropriate kids services. Our ultimate hope is to partner with parents to see a generation of children come to know God at an early age.
